The Pink Saturday Fun Run/Walk fights cancer in Tanzania

Hundreds of men, women and children took part in the Pink Saturday Fun Run/Walk this October 2013 to raise awareness about cancer and to raise funds for cancer medication for patients at the Ocean Road Cancer Institute. The event was a huge success and below are images of how it proceeded. The event was a great initiative by Kunduchi Beach Hotel. The next Pink Run/Walk is expected to have, if not a much bigger impact, then the same success to this this year’s.
In order to raise awareness of Breast Cancer in Tanzania and funds for cancer medicine, Kunduchi Beach Hotel in Association with Ocean Road Cancer Institute have organized The Pink Saturday Fun Run Walk on October 12, 2013. A minimum of 2,000 people are expected to attend including Tanzania’s first lady mama Salma Kikwete, Prime Minister Pinda, Minister of Health, Regional Commissioner of Dar, mama Makinda, and a few local celebrities. Breast examinations will be done for free and all ladies are invited. As cancer can happen to anyone regardless of age and early detection can increase chances for survival, young women are highly encouraged to come and be checked. The Pink Saturday Fun Run Walk will be followed by an all female line-up concert called ‘Women’s Got Talent’ where by, female DJ’s, MC’s, and various female artists will perform. Funds raised on this special event will go to helping increase survival rates by providing cancer medication to patients in Tanzania.
