BBQ Themed Zanzibar Gourmet at Melia Zanzibar

I thought I had seen the most incredible ways to prepare gourmet cuisine until Zanzibar Gourmet’s most recent edition at Melia Zanzibar. The BBQ themed event explored a plethora of grilling possibilities from sea food to lamb and even the butter was made using a BBQ technique. Chef Alan Mayaven of Melia tantalized our taste buds with lobster wrapped in kale then grilled inside bamboo stems while guest chef Fabio Dominic Haebel from Germany satisfied our appetites with seasoned lamb wrapped in foil and cooked under the ground with charcoal. All this happened on Melia’s white sandy Gaby Beach by the Indian Ocean as guests enjoyed a refreshing sea breeze while seated around a fire pit under a sky full of sparkling stars. After such a special event, I was escorted to my exquisite ocean view bungalow built on a cliff top with a roof thatched with coconut leaves in contemporary style. I woke up to the most amazing view of the Indian Ocean and stunning shades of the sun rising beyond the bungalow’s large balcony. After an assortment of all things delicious at breakfast, I had the most relaxing spa treatment before swimming in the pool and lunch. Melia is definately in my top 3 five star spots for a weekend getaway or long vacation in Tanzania.
